With the chilly weather here already (and the second month of university well under way!!) I feel as though many of you could benefit from these 5 natural hangover remedies. Whether its those extra few glasses of wine, spiked fall drinks (apple cider and cranberry sangria coming to mind?), or wild undergrad nights, this time of year can be pretty drink heavy. These remedies are a great alternative to the typical (harsh on your stomach) drugs that you may be tempted to reach for when your head’s pounding.
Hydrate, Hydrate Hydrate!
While drinking a huge glass of water before bed is highly recommended, remember to also hydrate in the morning right after waking up. Water is a great option, but also don’t forget about electrolyte-rich fluids to help replenish the the salt and potassium that you lost. Such as; coconut water and sport drinks.
Instead of stressing your body the morning after, and pushing yourself for a morning run or workout session, give your body a break. Have a nice long sleep in to let your body heal and recover from the night before.
Eating a large, nutrient-dense breakfast the next morning can help to replenish some of the energy and electrolytes spent on the night before. One of my favourite go-to breakfasts is a spinach, arugula, cheese and tomato omelette or homemade apple pancakes!
This Honey Ginger Cleansing Tea is a serious miracle worker! Having a huge glass of this, before or instead of, coffee in the morning will help you to cleanse, hydrate and reduce feelings of nausea (thanks to the ginger!).
Shower & Stretch
Taking a cool shower after a good amount of sleep can help to wake you up as well as freshen up. Followed by a nice slow stretch session will help to keep you relaxed and let your body recover from the night before.
Hope These Help You!
