Transform your mornings into a happy and exciting time of day! These are a few tips to help shape your new healthy morning routine, and to have you flourish from the second that you wake up. These tips are easy to integrate and trust me when I say that they can make a HUGE difference to your mood when starting the day.
1. Stop Hitting The Snooze Button
When you set your alarm be prepared to get up at that time, not 30 minutes later, after hitting the snooze button 3 times. It may help to have your alarm device at a distance that’s out of arm’s reach, so that you are forced to get up out of bed to turn it off.
2. Stretching
Even if it’s a big bear stretch with your arms over head when you wake up, just take a minute or two to stretch and breath. This will help to slowly wake you up, get your body moving and keep you from curling up back into bed.
3. Music
Play your favourite pump-up song after you turn your alarm off. This will get you going and put you into a great mood.
4. Make Your Bed
This is not only to keep your room tidy, but also to force you to get moving and not get back into bed! This is also your first little accomplishment of the day, looking at a freshly made bed should make you feel GOOD!
5. Lemon Water
Start your morning off with a tall glass of lemon water, to hydrate, cleanse and awaken your body! You are quite dehydrated when waking up, not having consumed water for the number of hours that you were asleep for. I love my lemon with hot water, since I find waking up to a warm beverage is easiest (especially in the winter months). Try this Honey Ginger Cleansing Tea too!
6. Get Excited About Breakfast
Get excited over what meal you are going to make! Find what foods you like best for breakfast and make them. I remember in university my roommate and I would get all excited over what sort of smoothie bowl we were going to make for breakfast the next morning. So when the morning came we were pumped up, excited and ready to finally have it! Need some breakfast recipes? Give these a try!
7. Shower Time
This can also help to wake you up and clear away any grogginess. I have never known anyone to not be happy after they have had a nice shower!
8. Goals
Have your goals written down somewhere that you can see them, such as on your makeup table, mirror or bedside table. Take a quick peek at them every morning to motivate you to do and be your best.
Any comments or questions? We would LOVE to hear from you!
